Tip of the Week

The longest runs of the summer training program will be held over the next month. These are very important tests of your endurance and readiness for the October races. Be sure to get plenty of rest both the night before (no late night partying) and the afternoon of the run. You will be taxing your body to the limit and will need rest as well as good nutrition and adequate hydration both before and after the run.
Yoga is a great way to stretch and build core strength -- these are critical for runners to maintain flexibility, avoid injury and improve performance. Click here for some common yoga poses beneficial for runners. You can do a short yoga routing after your runs. You may also want to explore yoga as form of cross-training on days you don’t run.

On Saturday September 18th, the regular MCC training run will be replaced by an MCC hosted race on the C&O Canal Towpath from Carderock.

All trainees are strongly encouraged to participate in one of the races (half-marathoners - 10 miler; marathoners - 20 miler).  These runs will be supported by your fellow charity partners to cheer you on and provide aid along the course.
